As reported over on the Australian Aviation website this week the second of Air New Zealand’s 787-900s is preparing for its delivery flight, and the current in service model has expanded trans-tasman services to Perth now…

Air New Zealand’s debut of Boeing 787-9 services to Perth comes as the airline’s second 787-9 is prepared for delivery after completing its first flight over Washington State. ZK-NZF took off from Everett field on Sunday, September 14 local time and was in the air for one hour and 49 minutes before landing at Moses Lake, according to flight tracking website flightaware.com.

Second AirNZ B789 pics emerge

Another piece of news from the MRC blog last week, pics are emerging (photo on this post by Royal S King) of the second AirNZ B789 in the new white and black livery making its first public appearance at Paine Field before delivery..

Air New Zealand’s Boeing 787-9 ZK-NZF MSN 34335 has broken cover at Paine Field these last couple of days as it prepares to make its first flight and be delivered to Auckland during the third week of September.

Ansett and AirNZ liveries for the Milviz B732

Jon Murchison has released a few lovely looking repaints of the Milviz 737-200 over the last week or so, one in the Pacific Wave livery as worn by the current but outgoing 737-300’s in Air New Zealands fleet, and two in the Ansett livery. Very nicely done, and a great model to boot.

JustFlight announce Series 50-70 DC8

Air New Zealand simmers rejoice !! it was probably inevitable that JF would extend their recent DC8 release to include the series 50 variant as operated by Air New Zealand in the 60s, but now it’s official. Some work-in-progress shots are shown on their product page here and no doubt the repainters will get stuck in once it’s released…

This forthcoming DC-8 Jetliner collection for FSX features the later models of the DC-8 series that featured stretched fuselages, cockpit upgrades and eventually modern CFM turbofan engines. The models feature variations in the cockpits ranging from analogue ‘steam’ gauges to the more modern ‘glass’ instrumentation and come with distinctive custom sounds, authentic livery sets and different flight models for each variant.

Farewell ZK-SUH

As reported over on Mike Condon’s blog this week another of the AirNZ 747’s has left the country for the last time. This leaves a single 747 resident which is itself soon to leave…

Boeing 747-475 ZK-SUH has departed Auckland for the final time lifting off runway 05 right just moments before sunset last evening as ANZ6074 to Los Angeles where it will overnight and then make the short flight to its final resting place at Victorville.

Air New Zealand 787-900 handover ceremony

Quite the hoo hah in Seattle with the formal handover of the brand spanking new 787-900 to Air New Zealand staff. There was even a band on hand to help with the celebrations. Gonna be great to see this machine operating across the Tasman in coming months, I may even have to get p to Auckland to see an arrival some time

Air New Zealand became the first airline to take delivery of the Boeing 787-9 at an event attended by the world’s media in the United States today. More than 1,000 Boeing employees joined the airline’s representatives, VIP guests and media from as far away as New Zealand, Australia, China and Japan to celebrate the handover of the aircraft at the Future of Flight museum near Seattle.

New CLS 742/3 repaints from ARNZ

Long time modeller and expert repainter Jon Murchison of ARNZ has released a couple of lovely new repaints for the new CLS 747-2/300 for FSX. These more or less coincide with the 1.5 update recently and go with his ANZ textures released previously. Most Pacific simmers I’m sure will be well aware of his repaints, how he is so productive is anyones guess
