JustFlight DC-8 Jetliner Series 50 to 70

dc8-jetliner-series-50-to-70

Some pretty excited kiwi simmers about the place (myself included) now that JustFlight have come good on their plan to release the 50-70 series models for their DC8 airliner. This aircraft was originally released with the 10-40 models and with this new pack they include an Air NZ livery as operated by the airline in the 70’s. Not 100% sure if the earlier model is required, it’s not clear from the website, but there’s plenty of interest in the forums, no doubt it will sell pretty well. Certainly looks the part…

The classic ‘short fuselage’ DC-8 first flew on 30th May 1958 and covered the -10 to -50 series but in 1965 a stretched fuselage series was announced, starting with the -60 series. This FSX and Prepar3D collection covers the short fuselage -50 series up to the ultra-long stretched -73 series and includes three distinctive cockpit variations from the classic round-dial analogue version through a part-modernised version to the modern ‘glass cockpit’ variant in the later models.

Get in on this action while the deal still stands, there are Qantas, AirNZ, Ansett and Vincent skins available for it too:

Short haul – high density! With its high T-tail, stubby undercarriage, drooping anhedral wing, four engines and highly distinctive butterfly-style air brakes, you can’t mistake the 146-200/300! The 146 design was originally started by Hawker-Siddeley in the UK in 1973 and production started in 1983. Now Just Flight brings you the superb 146-200 and 146-300 for FSX featuring a highly detailed external model, 21 authentic airline liveries from around the globe, an extremely accurate virtual cockpit (VC) and even a cabin view.

JustFlight announce Series 50-70 DC8

JF-dc8-jetliner-series-50-to-70

Air New Zealand simmers rejoice !! it was probably inevitable that JF would extend their recent DC8 release to include the series 50 variant as operated by Air New Zealand in the 60s, but now it’s official. Some work-in-progress shots are shown on their product page here and no doubt the repainters will get stuck in once it’s released…

This forthcoming DC-8 Jetliner collection for FSX features the later models of the DC-8 series that featured stretched fuselages, cockpit upgrades and eventually modern CFM turbofan engines. The models feature variations in the cockpits ranging from analogue ‘steam’ gauges to the more modern ‘glass’ instrumentation and come with distinctive custom sounds, authentic livery sets and different flight models for each variant.
